17 teams register for Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                JUNE 30th, 2017

17 teams register for Burin Targa Bambina

It is shaping up to be a successful and busy Canada Day weekend for the southern Burin Peninsula.

Seventeen teams of two from all over Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Ontario will help kick start the first annual Targa Bambina event in Jean de Baie Saturday morning, concluding in Parker’s Cove Monday afternoon.

The Town of Burin was abuzz with chatter Friday as competitors drove their road-ready vehicles to register and get inspected in preparation for Saturday morning’s launch.

This event, which is in memory of the late Tom Hollett, will see three days of competition in three categories, including a non-competitive category with Targa NL’s youngest ever participant, 10-year-old Olivia Ryan of Clarenville, navigating for her grandfather.

Several Targa veterans will take on some novice competitors in the three-day event.

Roads will be closed for the races. Visit targabambinanl.com for schedule and route information.

Pike’s Building Centre becomes presenting sponsor of Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina

For immediate release

ST. JOHN’S (June 19, 2017) – The Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina is proud to announce that Pike’s Building Centre, Salt Pond-Burin, has agreed to become the presenting sponsor for the tarmac rally, to be held on the Burin Peninsula during the Canada Day long weekend.

Pike’s Building Centre is an integral part of Burin Enterprises, a multi-faceted family-run business that has been a staple in Salt Pond-Burin and on the Burin Peninsula for over 30 years. Servicing the entire Burin Peninsula, Pike’s Building Centre has helped many businesses and families with their building and renovation needs throughout the years.

With four supply trucks and a 6,500-square-foot store sitting on a four-acre site, Pike’s Building Centre has a large selection of inventory to choose from, and is the go-to location for professional contractors and do-it-yourself types. Plus, it has a strong community spirit, helping with charities and sponsoring other local events throughout the Peninsula.

Having Pike’s Building Centre as a presenting sponsor of what is hopefully an annual motorsports event, Targa Bambina President Robert Giannou is encouraged by Pike’s and other businesses on the Burin Peninsula stepping up to support the Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina.

“The idea of the Bambina was to promote Tom’s dream of making Burin the centre of motorsports and building a huge tourism base on the Burin Peninsula,” explains Robert. “Having businesses support that dream, and those same businesses having done business with Tom while he was alive, it brings everything full circle. Pike’s Building Centre has a strong foundation on the Peninsula and in the Salt Pond-Burin area. Tom would have been very proud to have them on board for this event.”

The Pike’s Building Centre logo will be prominent on the cover of the official Bambina Routebooks that all competitors receive at Registration. Plus, the logo will have its own decal placement on all competitor vehicles in the Bambina. Pike’s Building Centre will receive local, provincial, national and international exposure due to its presenting sponsorship status of the Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina.

Managed and operated by Newfoundland international Motorsports Limited, Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized Targa Motorsport events in the world. The Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina competition is scheduled for June 30 – July 3, 2017. The event will utilize the roads on the southern Burin Peninsula and be based out of the community of Burin.
