Bambina Celebrates Canada Day

MARYSTOWN, NL (June 27, 2019)

Bambina Celebrates Canada DaySenior Targa Officials arrived in Marystown today in the final preparation of Bambina Newfoundland.

Competitors from as far as Kansas, USA will be arriving tonight for the Competition & the Course Familiarization School in Marystown.

Registration will take place tomorrow afternoon from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Marystown Hotel. Saturday morning, competitors will start in Spanish Room and Rock Harbour for the prologue, then heading down to Burin to start Leg 1. June 30 competitors will start Leg 2 in Mooring Cove, Frenchman’s Cove and the Marystown.

Canada Day July 1, competitors will venture off to Leg 3 of Bambina Newfoundland as they will be heading up the peninsula and heading to Rushoon and Parker’s Cove. The awards ceremony will take place at Parker’s Cove Community Centre.

Owned and operated by Newfoundland International Motorsports Limited, Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized Targa motorsports events in the world. The 2019 event starts with our two-day Driving School on September 12th & 13th. The Tech/Registration Day is September 14th. Prologue Stages occur on September 15th. The competition will start in St. John’s on September 16th and concludes back in the capital on September 20th. The annual rally will cover more than 1,500 kilometres of the challenging, twisty roads of the central and eastern portion of the island of Newfoundland, including over 440 kilometres of closed-road, high-velocity Targa stages.

The winners announced for the 2nd annual Ultimate Targa Bambina Entry Contest.

ST. JOHN’S (June 09th, 2019) The Ultimate Targa Bambina Vehicle Entry Contest was created in 2018 to give people who wish to enter Bambina Newfoundland for the very first time, and the chance to get their feet wet in motorsports. The idea was to vote (like) for the vehicle that most represents Targa Bambina. Several members of the public have entered and submitted different types of vehicles. Some of which are; 2000 Honda S2000 AP1, 2005 Subaru STI, 2007 Mazda RX8, 2013 Scion FR-S, 2017 Type R Honda Civic. After two weeks of voting for their favourite vehicle on Bambina Newfoundland Facebook page, with over 5,800 views, we got their winner!

The Winner of the Ultimate Targa Bambina Entry is Dylan Thomas from St. John’s, NL, Dylan’s vehicle is a 2000 Honda S2000 AP1.

The Ultimate Targa Bambina Vehicle Entry package Includes; Driving School for Driver and Navigator, Two Targa Competition Licenses, Competitor and Sponsor decal kit for the vehicle, Three Lunches during the event, On stage event insurance, Bambina T-Shirts.

The runner-up of the Ultimate Targa Bambina Entry is Curtis Walsh from Colliers, NL; his car is a 2005 Subaru STi. Curtis will receive a $500.00 credit towards a 2019 Bambina Newfoundland entry.

Bambina Newfoundland allows people with interest in Motorsports to try their hand at stage rallying, without having to commit to the time and effort that the full Targa would involve. This mini version of the internationally acclaimed competition will be held from June 29th – July 01st and will consist of three days of competition, offering 16 competitive stages on the lower Burin Peninsula. The entry into this event is a fraction of the cost of the Targa Newfoundland, and the overall winner of Bambina Newfoundland will gain free admission to Targa’s 18th annual event in September 2019.
